LDS.org - Ensign Article - Finding and Sharing the Gospel Online

LDS.org - Ensign Article - Finding and Sharing the Gospel Online

This article gives some good examples for sharing the gospel online and also provides a few tips about how to stay safe. The article below from Scientific America is a little scary, but it shows just how easy it is for someone to steal your identity with a few searches.

PLN - Example

I realize a lot of you would like to see an example of what I mean for the PLN assignment. Well, hopefully this will clear things up a bit.

Here is my screen shot of my Google Reader page. I created this google account for class specifically so I don't have many subscriptions but hopefully you get the idea. I'll try to have a better list of subscriptions for you to browse sometime later in this course.

I subscribed to the LDS.org feed because the church is the best place to learn about how I can really make use of technology to make a difference. They may not talk about it too much, but they provide excellent examples.

I subscribed to one of your classmate's blogs. You can find links to those that I have to the left of this post, or in the Blog Roll page once it is complete.

And I subscribed to eLearn Magazine. I've linked to it so you can get an idea of what I want in the assignment, but it isn't one I've looked at much so I am not recommending it. Ideally, you would include an explanation about why you chose each subscription.

I know it isn't much, but I hope it helps. Again, Print Screen on a PC will give you a screen shot. All you have to do next is open Paint, hit Ctrl-V to paste it, save it as an image and upload it to your post. On a Mac you use Command-Shift-3 or 4 and follow the same procedure, I believe.

Week 1 Class - Drinking from a Firehose

Well, I didn't quite get to everything I wanted to, but with all the different technologies we could go over I doubt I ever will. I think class went well, but if anyone is feeling lost or confused let me know and I'll do what I can to fix that. Most of our classes will be about the same. I'll go over the assignment and try to give you enough time in class to at least start it. I plan on reviewing what we went over today at the beginning of class next week just to make sure everyone is up to speed, but if everyone feels like they are doing ok, and lets me know by commenting here, we can skip that and just move on.

You'll notice that I've posted the links to your blogs. If anyone notices that their blog is not here, let me know, and resend me the link, so I can get it up. It looks like we've got a great class covering a lot of interesting topic areas, so don't miss out on this chance to make some good connections.

A few people approached me about assignments. Remember, if you feel like an assignment doesn't work for you or you would like to change something, that's great! The more these assignments can be tailored to your needs the better. Just let me know and we can figure it out, but it does have to be soon. The semester is short and if you don't let me know early enough we may not have time to make the necessary adjustments.

Thanks again everyone! I look forward to reading your posts.
